At the initiative of Rector Péter Erdő, the Hungarian Catholic Bishops’ Conference established the Pázmány Péter Catholic University’s Faculty of Information Technology on July 1, 1998 as a training basis for the multidisciplinary research university. It was led by the academic Tamás Roska, an internationally acknowledged professor of information technology.
